Brown University: Alicia Sacramone Wins Gold on Vault During Olympic Trials

Former Brown student-athlete and Olympic hopeful Alicia Sacramone (Winchester, MA) competed at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, Pa., over the weekend. Sacramone placed first on the vault, and earned fifth on both the beam and floor. At the conclusion of the competition, Sacramone, and nine other individuals, were invited to the 2008 Women's Olympic Selection Camp, July 16-20 at the Women's National Team Training Center in Huntsville, Texas. There, the rest of the squad will be named to the U.S. Olympic Team pending approval from the U.S. Olympic Committee. Shawn Johnson and Nastia Liukin automatically qualified for the Selection Camp by placing first and second, respectively, at Trials.
