What Scores Do You Need?

I was just wondering what every one needs to qualify for zones/states/regionals/westerns/nationals. This is what we need in North California:

Level 4 States: 34.5 at any meet
Level 5 Zones: 28.0 at any meet
Level 5 States: 34.0 at zones
Level 6 Zones: 28.0 at any meet
Level 6 States: 34.0 at zones
Level 7 States: 32.0 at any meet
Level 8 States: 32.0 at any meet
Level 8 Regionals: 34.0 at States
Level 9 States: 32.0 at any meet
Level 9 Western Championships: 34.0 at States (i think)
Level 10 States: 32.0 at any meet
Level 10 Nationals: 34.0 at States (i think)

Level 10 national qualification is from regionals and it's by placement (per age group). They opened up an extra two age groups awhile ago, but in region 1 (CA's region) you probably still need at least a 36. Even in my region it's about that, and we're less competitive at JO nats than R1.

ETA: Westerns qualification works similarly, but it goes by a percentage rather than flat number.

For NH its as follows

AA Score Requirements
at a local qualifier score you need to qualify For sectional meets:
Levels 4 through 8 - 31.00

at the sectionals score you need to qualify For state meets:
Levels 4 through 8 - 33.00
Levels 9 and 10 - 32.00
Prep-Op - 32.00 or two meets

at the states score you need to qyalify For regional meets:
Levels 9 and 10 - 34.00

This is what the NC site has up as the "latest" under rules and policies - although dated 2 years ago... so not sure if it is accurate or not...

2007-2008 QUALIFYING SCORE TO STATE MEETS

NC & USA Gymnastics R & P NC Prep Opt. R & P
Level 4 32.00 AA Rookie I 30.00 AA
Level 5 32.00AA Rookie 2 32.00 AA
Level 6 31.00 AA Novice 31.00 AA
Level 7 31.00 AA Prep I 31.00 AA
Level 8, 9, 10 32.00 AA

North Carolina Women's Gymnastics

NC seems to be slack with info for some reason. At this moment - the coaches don't even know what my dd will have to score at States in order to make Regionals (R1)

Although it might be different from USAG, I don't think so because I am pretty sure I have seen R8 prep opt regionals (unusual, but I think more regionals should be encouraging this competition). NC is in R8. You might try the region's website for more info about that. However it's not usual to use the percentage system rather than a flat score for qualification (R7 does this for L8 regionals). In that case it's hard to predict what score will be needed, just what placement. The scores tend to vary a bit among age groups and different years (of course the judging and competition is different etc) so it's even a bit hard to figure about what score would be needed.

Edit: I looked at the link for the event (http://poguidelines.region8gymnastic...qualification/) and it looks like some states have adopted the regional recommendations but don't have to, so I guess NC might not have set their qualifying score yet. Maybe they are waiting until later in the season to see how average scores are at meets? I know in my state because prep op is new, we have some stuff like that going on. For example to qualify to states you just have to compete in a meet in that level of prep. There is no "score," because there wasn't enough info at the time to set it. They didn't plan for nearly the demand that there has been to enroll in the state meet for the program. There have had to be different plans to switch venues, etc.

Wow! The poor level 4's in our state have it tough
Does anyone know why there is such a big difference in scores depending on the state?

Gymdog... you are always such a wealth of information!

I don't mean to hijack this thread... but I've been wondering what's going on w/the Prep Op. statement!!! Here it is already toward the end of Feb. and the venue is still TBD!!! I'm hoping they'll let us know something soon... my son is graduating from VT May 15, so IF they choose a club closer to that area, Katy MAY be able to attend the meet. If not, she'll just have to miss it this year!

I HAVE noticed that there seems to be a LOT of prep op. girls this year in the state. I thought it was just because that's what Katy is doing now, and I just hadn't paid attention in the past.... but oh my!!! There are over 100 Prep Op. girls coming to her "home" meet March 6!!

I suppose next year they will establish a "qualifying" score to the state meet. It IS turning out to be a great program for the girls, much to my delight!

Probably because there are a lot of L4 gymnasts and they can only accommodate so many gymnasts at a weekend long meet.
