Our optional team goes every year.
Are you going as a team or by yourself?

I'm not sure who I would go with lol Definitely not the whole team but maybe I can convince people to go with me and I have not been there before!

Yeah it was very weird. I went with a bunch of my teammates there was four of us that were level 5s..... I had been scoring the same as all of them the whole season and had the same amount of skills... Me and my one friend even had more skills on bars then the other too..... Well I ended up in a lower group and all three up them were in a higher group...... See we only tested on floor and bars and on floor I did round off two bhs then I got spotted on a tuck but that was when I did the traditional whip back ish back tuck, but its not like my teammates had these amazing back tucks either..... then we went to bars and I had my level 5 bar routine connected and a baby giant and all she let me do was like a back hip pullover and a back hip circle and then like a cast let go dismount sorta thing....... I don't even know if I was too shy to speak up and tell her I could do more? I was like 10 years old. I'm not sure but my friends didn't do more then that either...

Then they tell us the groups and im in like a group lower then them.. Then we get to practice and they were working on easy stuff(the girls in my group) Then my coach saw what I could do on bars and shes like yeah you have to be in another group but then I couldn't move up until some guy in charge of it came and saw what I could do? But he didn't come until like Wendesday, so I had 3 days in the wrong group and only 2 days in the right group. I liked the camp though. I would have come back even for 2 weeks the next year, but I was not allowed since they messed up my group and I didn' really learn any new gymnastics. But I'm pretty sure they wouldn't mess up my group again... I mean my cousin and her team go every summer and they love it!!!!

My DD is going to IGC. It will be her 5th year there. She loves it. Last year she was there for 2 weeks. We will only do 1 year this week. She has never had any problems with placement. We have a number of girls from our team that are going to Woodward this year. I prefer IGC - not many boys there and more structured.

Hi everyone, thanks for all of your comments. During today's team practice, we decided to stick w/IGC! The only complaint I've heard re: IGC was that they SPOT on EVERY single skill.... Have your daughters had that same experience? Spotting is great, don't get me wrong, but I'd like to know if any of the girls get a chance to try a skill on their own!

I whole heartedly endorse IGC...worked there for years as a coach, on the Recreation staff, and part of the Gym School. Fantastic staff, great facility, awesome atmosphere for gymnastics. The staff now go through tremendous coaches education to ensure knowledge in coaching and spotting is up to date, safe and effective....Go IGC!

We have a coach that grew up going to Lake Owen and goes with the team every year. The girls have a blast.

not to mention it is close to home!
My dd went to LO last summer and I worked there as a mini mom and we'll be going back this summer. DD loved it and 2 of her coaches went along and worked there too She was so excited to meet Carly

I want to go to Parkettes in Pennslyvania in the summer for a week. The program where you get to live with a gymnast. Has anyone heard of it? It's like $500. I'm really hoping it will all work out!
