Iowa State Cyclones: ISU Gymnastics Opens Season in Cancun

AMES, Iowa- The 13th-ranked Iowa State gymnastics squad opens the 2007 season at the Cancun Classic in Cancun, Mexico, on Friday, Jan. 5 at 7:30 p.m.* The Cyclones will face No. 18 Missouri, No. 20 Auburn and BYU.* This is the first time ISU has competed in the Cancun Classic.The Cyclones*finished their*record-setting season with*a sixth place finish at the 2006 NCAA Championship.* On their road to the "Super Six," Iowa State dominated the post-season claiming the Big 12 Conference crown, finishign second at the North Central Regional Championship and then*earning second in the opening round of the NCAA Championship to earn their bid for the final competition.* Seven-time All-American Janet Anson returns for her senior campaign after being named the Big 12 Gymnast of the Year and finishing tied for third on floor and tied for fourth on vault at the NCAA Individual Event Finals last year.
