IRVING, Texas - Iowa State senior Janet Anson was named Big 12 Gymnast of the Week for the first time this season and the*sixth time in her career, the league office announced Tuesday. Anson led the Cyclones to the championship at the Cancun Classic featuring No. 18 Missouri, No. 20 Auburn and BYU. She finished second in the all-around with a 39.10 score while capturing titles on the uneven bars (9.85) and floor exercise (9.90). Anson also placed fifth on the vault (9.825). The Kansas City, Mo., native and seven-time All-American was honored as the 2006 Big 12 Gymnast of the Year. At the end of last season, she made her second-consecutive appearance at the NCAA individual event finals and tied for third on floor (9.9125) and tied for fourth on vault (9.825).
