The community is a lot larger now than it was last time we tried to set up an IRC channel.

Well here is an idea. If you need to restrict the chatbox to the big chatbox page only, can you put just the thing that show's who has been active in the chat in the last 10 mins on the main forum page? That way, someone looking at the forums can see "oh, so and so is in the chat, so let me join them".

Click on the box at the top that says chat, there is a girl on it doing a handstand. You cannot use chat until you have 15 posts, please read the rules too.
The chat box doesn't get a lot of use here really though.

click on forums it will appear at the top of the page. You need to have 15 posts before you can use it.

The chatbox is no more. JBS removed it because it was too server-intensive, and was partly responsible for the site's downtime.
