I made an account in March but this is my first time on the website. I have been doing gymnastics for 10.5 years and have been competing for 6 years.

My goal is to be an optional gymnast and it finally came true because I am working out with the level 7 and soon to be level 8 gymnasts at practice and I am creating a beam and floor routine but there's only one problem. The time for practice is to early for me and my mom has to pay $400 for a new floor routine. I was wondering of I should stay as a level 7 gymnast or go 2 Xcel gold/platinum (one of the two). The time for their practices are easier and one coach has a big dance background and only makes you pay $50 for a new floor routine. What do you think I should do?

HI everyone! I've visited this site when I was looking for information before and now finally joined!
My DD has been in gymnastics a year and half (she turned 5 a couple months ago) and she is now being moved up to team so I thought it would be a good idea to get on here officially as I have a feeling I'll have lots of questions! I'm new to all this, never been part of this or relaly any athletic world before.

I look forward to getting to know you all and thank you in advance for the help and support I know I'll get here :)

Hello,

I found chalk bucket by surfing the web trying to learn more about gymnastics. I personally never did gymnastics so this is all new to me. My daughter has done gym for about two and a half years. She skipped level 4, did a year of 5, did two meets of 6 in the spring to qualify, and then did level 7 last season.

Her coaches have asked us repeatedly to consider letting her go the elite track. I believe they are great coaches (they are previous WOGA Elite Gymnasts) but just trying to sort out if it’s the right decision for our family.

My daughter truly loves gym. She lives eats and breathes gymnastics. She is currently training level 8 (has about half of the level 8 skills, and all level 9 beam skills) for next season and is 10 years old (would be 11 for next season). I am wondering though:

1. is she already too old?
2. her gym strongly encourages home school, should we do it?
Note- we cannot get a PE exemption as she still would be in elementary school.
3. How do you know if you really should do the elite path or if your child has what it takes?

Thanks for all the advice:p

I just discovered CB - what a fantastic resource! I'm so glad I stumbled on it! :)

I'm a mom to 2 girls (young 4 and young 6)...both are in rec gymnastics right now. We just started gymnastics this year with them and they love it! My oldest has taken to it like a duck to water and has progressed quickly. They talked about putting her on preteam mid year, but it would not fit in our schedule at the time. So they moved her to a smaller class with 3 coaches (and 3 kids) where she got to work on some tougher skills. She'll be on preteam starting this summer though. :)

I'm sure I'll be on here a lot...learning, asking a zillion questions, and being thankful that there are so many fantastic gym parents, coaches, and gymnasts to answer my questions. I look forward to getting to know everyone! :)
