In Memory: Tim Rand

The following was posted on the USAG website the other day. Sad news for the gymnastics world.

Thank you for all your hard work and dedication....you will be missed.

In Memory: Tim Rand

August 21, 2007

Tim Rand, former owner of American Twisters in Coconut Creek, passed away on August 20, 2007 of cardiac arrest. Tim was devoted to his family and a dedicated gymnastics coach, administrator and educator. Tim trained and developed many USA National Team members at the elite and the Junior Olympic Level. He and his athletes represented the U.S. in many international competitions. Tim, and his wife Toni, were great educational ambassadors for the U.S., providing education for coaches, judges and athletes in other countries. They were honored with the distinguished Women's Program Service Award at National Congress. Tim was world renowned for his expertise, passion and enthusiasm for gymnastics. While serving as a member of the Junior Olympic Committee, Tim was instrumental in designing the Women's Junior Olympic Compulsory Exercises. He was a highly acclaimed clinician who has most recently lectured at USA Gymnastics Regional Congresses.
Tim will be warmly remembered and greatly missed by his gymnastics family.
Tim is survived by his wife Toni and their two daughters, Alissa and Serena. Tim and Toni are shown in this photo on June 16, 2007 on the occasion of their induction into the USA Gymnastics Region 8 Hall of Fame.
