Happy 50th Birthday Paddington Bear!
Today is the 50th birthday of the beloved Paddington Bear. Paddington Bear first premired on October 13, 1958 and has been much loved since. The polite immigrant bear from Darkest Peru, has become a classic English children's literature icon with his old bush hat, battered suitcase, and marmalade sandwiches. Paddington's books have been transalted into 30 languages across 70 titles and have sold more than 30 million copies worldwide.

The creator of Paddignton Bear, Micheal Bond, started when he saw a lonely stuffed bear sitting on a shelf in a London store near Paddignton station on Christimas Eve, 1956, which he bought as a present for his wife. The bear inspired Bond to write the story, and in 10 days, he had written the first book. Paddignton Bear has since been loved by many.
