NCAA - Title IX - under attack?

One reason I am going to the NCAA Championships is because I’m a huge booster of College gymnastics. It’s a great training ground for coaches and judges. I personally am not a big fan of title IX. Men's college gymnastics is almost extinct, and the blame rests largely on title IX. Because men's gymnastics is an expensive sport and recieves far less publicity for the college than sports like football or basketball, men's college gymnastics teams have been dropped left and right in order to comply with the equal funding tenet of title IX.

Also, the statistics given on that page mean absolutely nothing. The increase in the number of women doing collegiate sports could just as well be indicative of the fact that there are more women in college now than there were in 1972.

I'm all in favor of equal opportunity, but title IX is seriously flawed, and needs to be amended if not thrown out entirely.
