IGC runs from Sunday to Saturday... I think Woodward is the same.... They work out most of the day and then have their "recreation time" at night... It will be my daughter's first experience with "sleep away" camp.... but she's looking forward to it!

Wow, that is pretty good, 7 days basically. That is a bit short in our camps. The "normal" Christian camps Talitha went to, were from Monday till Saturday and this gymnastics one is from Monday till Friday, a bit short, but better than nothing.

I'm curious to know, is there an age requirement for these types of camps? My daughter is only 5 so she won't be going this summer, but I was wondering if she could go at age 6 or would have to wait til she's 7?

A week even for a 6 year old is a long time to be away from Mom. They are well supervised, but they do need to be able look after themselves completely. My 7, soon to be 8, year old is going for her first week this summer. Her sister has been going since the year she turned 8, good experiences.

The girls both did gym day camps before they were 7, that was a great way to build up to the real thing. Most of the camps do a lot of gym, like 30 hours or more per week, they really have to be ready for that, or they can't walk after the 2nd day!

Good luck finding something fun for her.

I don't think I would've sent my daughter to camp much earlier than now anyway... she just turned 12. She did the day camps at her gym, but she really really wanted to do the "real" camp this year. I was surprised, but also happy that she was finally ready to "cut the strings" a bit and try something new and I know she'll really enjoy it as well..

I DO believe that IGC also has a minimum age. I'm sure you could find it on their website if you're really interested.

My daughter has gone to camps for 2 Summers now, not gymnastics ones, and there minimum age was 7. The camp she is going to now, is one from Sportswitnesses and has a minimum age of 10. My dd won't be 10, but close to it, that is why she can go.

It took a little looking, but it appears to be 8 at IGC. I figured it was probably age 7 or 8. With a fall birthday she would be nearly 7 by the end of next summer and as the youngest of three is a pretty self sufficient and outgoing kid. Nevertheless, you are right that the older, the better the camp experience. I think there are some local day camps around here if she wanted a different experience from what she will get at her own gym. My dh would think I was nuts to send her to a camp when we are already paying for all these hours at our own gym!
