For us, my dd is a bit too young for camp just yet... heck, I have a hard time with the idea of sending my 14 yr old & 12 yr old to an overnight camp - and they has been begging me for years to go to football camp. lol... but I have heard of another gym camp, not sure about the quality of course called flipfest. I believe it is 7 & up also.... gee, it makes me wish I were 12 again - looks like a ton of FUN!! www.flipfest.com if anyone wants to check it out.

With MacReady there, it's bound to be a good camp. I've worked with John before, and he's a cool guy and an excellent coach.

Both of my daughters will be going to IGC this year. It is a little pricey, but our boys team have gone the last couple of years and absolutely loved it. My older daughter, 10, went to Karolyi's camp for the last two years. She really enjoyed it, but I think she will get more out of IGC. My younger daughter is 7. She wanted to attend the same camp as her sister so I called IGC. The minimum age is usually 8. But, we have quite a large group going and they said it would be okay. Of course, me and another mom are flying up with the group and staying in a cabin that is right down the road. I don't want to be too far from them. One of the guys that works out at our gym is one of the coaches there during the summer and I have heard nothing but good things about it.

Now I'm even MORE excited about sending my daughter there after all those great comments! What week are your DD's going? And what level are they now? It sounds like they're more advanced than my daughter. . .

I know it looks great right? I picked the flyer up at a comp we went check out a few weeks back. Macready was promoting it himself.

pammy, that would be the ideal situation... for the older sister to be with the younger one, it would be more comforting. I would still want to stay close by as well - camp for us would probably end up costing more like a family vacation lol.

TQM, I would probably feel most comfortable sending my dd at around your dd's age - 12 right? I am sure that she will get a great deal out of the camp and have a great time nic

I started going to Woodward at 12, and went every summer through HS, for at least a week, and then my Senior year for 2 weeks as a Junior Counselor. It was an awesome experience. I had friends that went to IGC as well and had a great time. Your girls will love it!!!

MacReady is an awesome guy--I met him at the Buckeye Classic in Columbus,OH a few years ago. I'm sure his camp would be an awesome experience; he's such a motivating and positive guy. I think gym camp is an excellent idea for every gymnast to do at least once--the only thing i say to watch with is watch if you're going as an older teenager because from what I've seen it's been more of a social hang out and not a lot of quality gymnastics going on. I do support gym camp though--it's a fun way for kids to meet other gymnasts and hear what other coaches have to say about stuff.

My girls will be going the week of July 4th. As far as skill level, my younger one is only a level one, but she has been blossoming over the last few months. My older dd is a level 5. They are really excited about going.
