embaresed
Hi all, my daughter was in a meet a week ago, and was very exposed due to her leotard riding up and exposing her entire crotch. Im alittle upset that the coach didnt step in and end her routine right away, but let her finish. This was about half way through when it happened. Do u think that someone should have said something. Another thing that concerns me is that she is only 14 and is completely shaved. I asked her why she does it , and she said all the girls do it. I know I wasent shaving that young. Have any of u had or seen this happen at a meet. Also do u think that most girls her age are shaving this way.
Thanks

I have seen this happen at a few meet my daughter goes to. Horribly embarrasing for everyone really. It is always the same team, their suits are just made that way, and they ride up on all shapes and sizes. I have never seen a coach stop a gymnast.

There are a few solutions, wear shorts and take whatever deduction is relevant at her level. Order a new, bigger suit. Buy a suit liner from one of the many available online, they help somewhat. Buy butt glue, also sold online, and stick the suit to her butt.

As for shaving, well that is a whole different issue. It is private to her I guess. She would never have shown you, you just found out accidentally. Shaving and waxing body hair is much more prevalent now in both males and females (did you know you cannot type the word s.e.x. on this board without a filter bleeping it out! Funny that) than it was even 10 years ago. It can't hurt her, it isn't disfiguringl won't scar her for life and it will grow back. I would let that one go, and fast. Better shaving than tattooing or body peircings.

I can only imagine what a tough experience this was for you. Talking to the coach might be in order too, it should not be allowed to happen again. She is a young lady, not a child, and would never choose to show her pubic area to a crowd.

Yes, unfortunately. It is like a very bad thong situation. There is also an upstairs veiwing area, so it is all from a bad angle too, if you know what I mean. I am horrified that there are all those Dad's watching. I think something would happen if the parents complain enough, I have no idea what the girls from the other gym think. They are, unfortunately, a standing joke because of the suits they wear.

If it was my girls, I would have been on the phone to the coach the next day, not at the meet, asking for help. My kids a young, and not mature yet, I don't even like for them to have their suits ride up. It is all about the cut of the suit, and is fixable.

thats is embarassing
That does sound embarassing....poor girl. The coaches do not stop the gymnasts, they just have keep their head up high and finish the routine...there is a thing like hairspray but for your leo...its like buttspray if u will...you can get it and it will help with keeping the leo in place...and u can get underwear that are flesh colored or the color of the leo...I have some and they are pretty cool that way if your leo rides up your crotch does not get exposed, it is still embarassing, but not as much!! Good luck and I hope she does well in the meets!

Sounds like either they need new leos with a different cut around the leg or your daughter needs to get one that is one size bigger. For competition the coaches like the leos skin tight to show better "line." I would ask about her leo and what can be done.

As for stopping the routine, I've never seen that done and the girls are told NOT to touch the leo until the routine is completed and they have saluted the judges. There is a penalty for "picking the wedgie."

At the recent American Cup, a gymnast from Ukraine(I think) had an awful time not showing off alot more than needed to be seen. As soon as she moved the leo went up.

I know your pain....as a gymnast for 13 years. My main suggestion is try hairspraying the leo to the body and/or body glue. Sadly, there is a deduction for picking a wedgie during a routine, but sometimes it's worth taking. Try getting a slightly bigger leo, that might help.

A leo should never fit as you have described. Coaches and parents are equally responsible for the fitting of a team leo. The coach should have already approached you about the situation (if they noticed). If not, they probably don't know what to say. Talk to the coach and your daughter and get this fixed before it happens again.

As far as the other thing...wrong website to talk about that. My advice...talk to her.
