? about grips

Kaity's coach let her wear some grips today while she was practicing kips. She told me they hurt and her fingers were turning purple. What's up with this? Do they all hurt? Do you get used to them eventually? These were not hers, she doesnt have her own yet. However, they were the size her coach said she needed.

midwestgymmom will become famous soon enough
I think it takes a while to get used to wearing them. I like the ones on this site. I got my dd these she likes these better than the ones that dont have the finger holes with the flaps

Red face ? grips

Grips are like shoes sizes in narrow average and wide. Each gymnasts hands require something a little different. Her fingers turned purple becuase the grip holes were too small. She needs to make her grips holes the right size for her fingers. You can't always do that with a "borrowed" pair of grips, Once she gets her own pair she can adjust the size of the finger holes for her hand. The hurt will most likely stop.
