My DD(s) practicing gymnastics

My little one has figured out her back handsprings again. They aren't pretty, but she is finally jumping back and not UP and doing them on her own. Here she is at home on our bed practicing them. I hate this stage of BHSs, but I know they all seem to go through it. The head landings just freak me out. Luckily she is pretty cautious and won't try them on anything except the bed right now.

And practicing the L4 vault, as best as you can with a mini-tramp and a king size bed and no running room. LOL.

And for fun, videos from our trip to Las Vegas, rock climbing at Circus Circus and the Tramp there as well.

Finally, my 2 year old on the beam DH made for DDs best friend. She loves to do anything big sister does. Or at least her versions of them.

So cute Your daughter is fearless I can't believe the height of that rockwall and she is all the way up at the top.
Great job at your dd's level 4 skills too She will definitely be ready to compete this upcoming meet year

How cute!!! Seeing these videos really takes me back to the days when my dd did the same things! Cate was about the same age as your two year old when she started gymnastics and I really wish we had video taped back then.

It's great that your dd has regained her skill and obviously her love of the BHS> It's so funny to see other girls practicing around the house. Now that my dd is 12, there is a lot less tumbeling but she still can't walk through the breakfast room with out doing at least a full turn, lol. Around here now it's all about the dance/artistry for her new routine.

Thanks for posting the cute videos and the great memories.

Your kids are so adorable! I hated that phase of the back handspring - the back headspring more like. Thankfully, it passes pretty quickly. Just wait until she learns the routines. She will be practicing them all over the house and in stores and just basically everywhere! I'd be in line at the drugstore and look over to see my dd practicing her beam routine!

My DD loved the rock wall, but when she tried again, they weighed her and wouldn't let her do it. I was like, I have video, she just did it a hour or 2 ago, but he said she would never be able to get back down, up was fine, but she didn't weigh enough to get herself down. I was like, how do you think she got down before? You had to be 30lbs for the tramp and 40lbs for the rock wall. She wasn't upset though because I had already told her she might get "caught" for not weighing enough. LOL.

I wish I had more video of DD1 when she first started. It seriously took her forever to learn to do a cartwheel. Like 9 or 10 months. She started at 4. She was always strong, but she isn't the most graceful or naturally talented. But, she works hard and eventually gets things.

I have to watch out for bars everywhere. She doesn't tumble much when we are out and about, but give her any kind of bar and she is doing pullovers, back hip circles or climbing to the top. She climbs to the top of the swing set at the park just shimmying up the bar. She and another girl are the only ones who can get to the top of the rope. She loves climbing and bars.

It is fun to hear how they still keep practicing, but in different ways. It is so much their life for them and they love it.

My 2 year old loves to be like her big sis. She likes to "hang bars" from the pull up bar at home and the park. Drives me crazy. I hope she picks something else to do. LOL.

DD won't be moving to team until June. They changed the requirements, so they need all the major skills with just a light spot. Meaning the ROBHS, mill circle and front hip circle and the dismount off beam. I am thrilled. I was so not wanting her to move up. She will probably have them in May, but her class is doing a show in May and the girls that are moving up all want to do the show. Mine loves an audience. She is mad that she isn't moving up, but I am happy about it.

Her backhandsprings look just like my daughters. I hate watching her land on her head. Mine loves to practice on the couch.

I hate watching her land on her head as well. I can't wait till they look normal and she lands on her hands. I keep telling her it is a back HANDspring, not a back HEADspring. LOL.

hunde2, it was huge. i wouldn't have even attempted it. she is my climber.

It seemed like it took FOREVER for dd to stop doing backheadsprings
