Not many programs put an emphasis on them. Once they can start climbing rope without legs up and down, they can start working big long grabs and one arm at a time as slow as possible.

Most kids wouldn't really be ready for these until near puberty or beyond. Gotta be careful about the elbow growth plates.
 
You mean they're not necessary for MAG?what's big long grabs?and I should be carefull about elbow growth place fracture?!how can that happen?
(English is my second language so sorry for speaking unusualy or badly)
 
Big long grabs means climbing up the rope in the least/fewest amount of hand grabs possible. So each hand grab covers as much rope length as possible.

Too much stress on immature/young joints is not a great idea, especially straight arm ring strength.
