Was USAG aware of that? I'm a little freaked out by the fact that there seemed to be signs here if someone wanted to look, and at the same time, he was a national team coach, located in the same city as USAG, and USAG was giving him awards and accolades. I feel like there must have been some willingness to turn a blind eye.

All other things aside, seems like ice skating is somewhat better paid than gymnastics coaching!

Well he was the club owner and also a coach so he got the percentage of profits plus figure skating relies on private lessons, and back in the late 80s early 90s my parents were paying $15 for a 15 minute lesson and sessions were every day for 8 hrs and we had to fight to get a private every day because all coaches were so booked.

News is reporting that Marvin Sharp committed suicide last night.

Wow. I feel so bad for the families at his gym. I can't even imagine what a roller coaster it has been for these last few weeks for them, and for Sharp's family too, can't be easy. Terrible all around.

Wow...I can't decide if that is better or worse for the victims.

That's where I sit. These children!/child who was abused didn't open up about the abuse right away. I know they said it was because she feared repercussion, but I am certain part of it was because she must have had a certain amount of allegiance to that man. Oh I pray she doesn't carry with her any negative feelings because of his cowardly act. It's so much better if justice can just be served. It doesn't matter what we think. It's all about the healing of these children. Those abused and those not.

So, so sad. And I think the nature of this type of abuse usually involves guilt on the part of the victim. I worry that in this case, the victims will be burdened with even greater guilt. Especially, the one(s) who brought it all to light. I'm sure they are being counseled that it's not their fault, but sometimes it takes a while to truly believe that.

What an incredibly sad, horrific situation. I can only imagine how those directly affected are feeling. I pray that they will find peace. I'm not sure if this end result is better or not but I just hope that those involved will be able to heal and move forward.

According to this article, there was a separate indictment filed last week (I hadn't seen this news before) that accused him of producing child pornography and that it involved at least 6 other victims. I wonder if that had something to do with his suicide. I really hope those little girls get the help they need...there will probably be feelings of relief that he is dead, followed by feelings of guilt for feeling that way. Such a sad situation.
