We are dealing with this too! Out of the original 12 in the group that competed together, one quit- 4 went to two different groups, 2 did not move up, which leave my DD with 5 from her group. 5 new girls moved up from a different time slot.....

It is hard....

As for 6 vs 7, going straight to 7 is it the same as sloping any other level. 6 is considered equal to 5 and moving up from 5 is going to 7. Like moving from 4 to 5 there are skills needed to get to 7, but not 6. All the best to your dd's next year, either way. Hope the new group and coach will continue to be a great experience.

I keep seeing people say this, but it is definitely not true for bars. My dd was a mid-9 on bars at 5, but never broke an 8.9 at 6. You don't need a handstand on 5 and you do on 6. That is quite a difference for some girls.
