Question for Gymnasticsbabie!

Hi there Gymnasticsbabie.... I have a Q for you!!! My DD and I went to the March Madness meet to watch the L9 and L10 girls compete. She used to be a member of your same gym... just the more "western" location! Anyway, we saw you compete and I do NOT understand why the coaches said they won't let you train for elite???? Your scores and routines and execution were heads and above the girls who ARE training for elite!! What is the rationale? I don't understand!

... thanks!

Haha thanks!! that really means a lot. I think it's because my scores do not reflect my skill level. The "elite" group throws a lot of difficult skills, but may not be able to execute them well. Something I think i'm known for is my execution, and thats why i score decently.
anyways, I think age factors in a little bit too, because I'm turning 16 and I'll only be in the gym for another year or so. What she's thinking is, "what am i going to be able to do for her in a year?"

oh well... those are the reasons that she gave, but more politely. This november is my elite qualifier in England that they have asked me to attend, so when the time comes I guess I'm just going to go for it.

Thanks again, that was really nice of you to say.

Gosh... sometimes this sport is so infuriating! To be considered "too old" at almost 16... frustrating.

Well, like I said my DD and I thought you were amazing (so did the team girls/parents that we were sitting with). Good luck in England. I'm sure you'll make it there, it's just too bad your current gym won't give you a chance to pursue your dream!

Good luck!
