Off Topic Off Topic - Competitive Dance

I should also add that after reading on Chalkbucket about how "easy" it is for former gymnasts to transition to other sports after quitting, I almost expected them to be fussing over Dd because she was a gymnast and request her for the dance team:) Dd tried out some cheer places before dance and...

Off Topic Off Topic - Competitive Dance

I have an 11-year old former gymnast that just started dance. She was training level 7 when she decided she was done for various reasons, but mostly because of the huge time commitment. She was also having some back pain and that scared me! She is currently enrolled in purely technique...

WAG need ideas for cutesy (ugh) floor music

Little Bitty Pretty One from Energym is great!

    WAG Taking a break..

Well, you just never know! Dd "quit" after states in April, tried doing just tumbling and is itching to go back to gymnastics now. I have to admit that I was hoping she would return, but I let her make the decision. I think she thought that all her neighborhood friends would be available to...

WAG Floor music question - cutesy/young/older/serious?

Dd was a 10 year old level 6 and her song was "Little Bitty Pretty One" from Energym. It was a little cute and a lot of fun! Always got everyone tapping their toes during her routine.

    Mobility within T&T program

I think I'm going to like this sport ! Thanks for filling me in!!

    Mobility within T&T program

Just a quick question, mostly out or curiosity. Does mobility within the T&T program work the same as in WAG? As in, do they have to get a qualifying score for each level before moving up? Just wondering since Dd is just starting in the program, but is coming into it after being a level 6...

I have said beam is a 4-letter word at many gymnastics meets :) I do wish the tumbling in t&t was more like floor routines in gymnastics rather than just a sequence on a track. I will miss the excitement of helping Dd pick out her music and watching all the different routines!

My Dd misses beam too! She says it is the thing she will miss most about quitting. I have to say it is the thing I will miss the least, haha :) Nice to know there are a few other t&t parents out there!

JMACAZ Dd's gym is starting an Xcel program in the fall and she might do that if she misses it too much. The increasing hours of optionals is what led her to quit as well as a high pressure coach so the Xcel program might be a good option. Right now she is really enjoying her down time and more...

    New here

Hi all, I have been a regular on the Women's Artistic board but it looks like I will be switching to this one. Dd just quit gymnastics as a 10 year old Level 6 and is trying out competitive tumbling. Any other parents out there whose kids have switched over? I will miss seeing her compete all...

WAG Big mess before state meet this weekend:(

This makes me so sad for your Dd. We have actually been dealing with a similar situation with our Dd at her gym and she is now at the point where she will either quit after states this weekend or move to the Xcel program just to avoid this particular coach. But I refuse to allow her to remain...

    WAG Xcel Success stories wanted

This is exactly what I needed to hear! The cast angle has been the most difficult thing for Dd to master and has been extremely frustrating for her and her coach. In fact, I think it is a large part of her wanting to quit. She is just now getting above horizontal as the rest of her teammates...

    WAG Xcel Success stories wanted

I should add that Dd's coach talked to her about Xcel also and she is very excited about it. She really wants to do it. She feels it is her way to do something she loves without such a huge commitment. Dd is extremely social and, while she loves her gym friends, she definitely looks forward to...

    WAG Xcel Success stories wanted

Hey all, Dd is just finishing up her season as a 10-year old level 6. About a month ago, she said she wanted to quit gymnastics and never go back to the gym. This totally caught me off guard because she has always loved gymnastics and said she would never quit, wanted to do college gymnastics...

    Parents mid-gym crisis

This surprises me too! I always thought that college gym would be the reward for all the years invested. The college girls definitely make it look fun!! I never considered the fact that they still have to push themselves to succeed in college. Definitely puts a different spin on things.

    Parents mid-gym crisis

Not advice really, just some words of inspiration and something to think about. We are not quite to Level 8 yet but Dd at Level 6 is 10 and those fears are definitely starting to creep up. Years ago when Dd was pre-team, I had tons of concerns about continuing to the team level of this sport...
