I did do a search, but I also decided to start a new thread to ask for any insights regarding gymnast wrist. You can PM me or respond here. My daughter just got an X-ray this week and the results show widening at the growth place of the distal radius, and possibly a fracture. She’s going to get...
I have a really, really small DS. His previous coach tried to take dowels out of grips, make grips, etc. He competed giants in level 6 without grips. He has been wearing Reisport high bar grips for awhile. They definitely took some getting used to but now he can't imagine doing anything...
My DS is heading up tomorrow with DH and the rest of us are going on Thursday night (he competes Friday around 12). I think it hit me about 2 hours ago that he is leaving and now I am super nervous and excited for him!
Both my kids had uniforms that are on backorder! DD still hasn't received hers, and I'm questioning paying for a leo that will be used for less than 1/2 a season! DS got his uniform from Turn and it looks really nice, but it was late too (they ended up giving us loaner for the meet in December).
Yep. We use Lipton, generic, whatever and it seems to have the same results. Beware that it does turn the hand brown! DD doesn't care, because she says they feel so much better.
Yep, make it like you would a real cup of tea. Then blot it with a paper towel so it's not soaking wet. Then press and seal on. Seriously, DD sleeps with 4 of them (2 on each hand) on nights when she does lots of bars / giants.
My DD doesn't wear grips so her hands are constantly a mess. We put a tea bag over the affected area and use press n seal (like saran wrap) to keep it on, and she sleeps like that. It really hardens up the skin and helps with the pain.
I thought that there was a baby giant in the L5 bar routine, but apparently not (DD just competed that level this fall and when she did that move she called it a baby giant but now she says it wasn't).
She now does a similar move, but from a bigger cast, but she comes all the way around, says...
This is a question for coaches--what do you think the minimum # of hours would be to successfully train for and compete L5/L6 in the fall and spring (assuming the coaching is excellent)?
DD is going to Olympia Gymnastics Camp for the first time, and I just wondered if anyone had experiences to share; things to know, etc. She is very excited! She is level 5 this fall, 6 in Jan.
My DD is in 2nd grade and is doing 12 hours a week for level 5. She did compete old level 4 as a kindergartner and went 9 hours a week at that time. Her coach recently explained to me that while 12 hours is low, the risk of stress fractures, burnout etc is so high that taking it slow is the way...
