Well, I am honestly not sure. I am relatively new to the whole gymnastics thing myself (started at 14 roughly 8 months ago) and I am trying to get skills needed to start competing Xcel :) my goal is to start competing this fall or next year.
Haha boy do I have one today. So I was doing a back hip circle (bet you are wondering how I fell on this one) and I casted too big into it...so about the time that I was completely under the bar, I flew off, and did a half- layout thingy do. I ended up facedown on the mat in a fit of giggles.
Hope I don't get my head bit off for this, but have you thought about using your mattress to learn your backbends? Me and my sisters did, and we picked it up fast.
^^^^what she said. Tape does add up. There was a certain point where I was going through a large amount of tape, and the sales guy started to call me the "tape lady" lol.
Oh ok. I apologize if I came across as mean or snarky in my last post...just trying to understand what you were talking about lol! I think the only thing that will help you as far as back flexibility goes, is to keep on doing them as much as you can. My logic might be a tad off here, but its...
Having a hard time understanding what you mean by "I don't have a arch". Could you please explain? Because I'm probably the least flexible person to ever step foot inside a gym, but I can still manage to get a "arch." We'll, enough arch to get a backbend that is.
Hmm. Try to make more of a "arch" with your back as you go down. The more arch you have, the slower down you will go, and the less apt your arms are to buckle. If that doesn't work, try some arm conditioning- after all, if your arms aren't strong enough to support you, all you will end up...
