Check out usagym.org and look at their T&T page. Lots of great info on the male athletes and the program in general. I'm not sure how much you know about it, but trampoline is an Olympic sport. I'm a T&T mom and I love it!
We were in Louisville for USTA T&T Nationals in June. Some of the popular things our team did was the Louisville Slugger Bat Factory/Museum, Churchill Downs and there is a cavern (can't think of the name, but widely advertised there) that had zip-lines and a cavern tour.
My daughter's coach took her and three other team members to Des Moines back in 2007 when the governor declared Shawn Johnson Day. They were able to meet and get pictures taken with her and Liang Chow and autographs. I enlarged one of the pictures and sent it to the gym to have her autograph...
USTA Nationals is also being held in Louisville next summer. It was held there in the past and we had a great time. Our hotel was within walking distance of Six Flags and the competition venue and the girls loved the horse-drawn ride along the riverfront. We are looking forward to going in June!
AAU Jr Olympics went pretty well this past weekend. DD loved her AAU National team leo and warm-ups. Very proud mom when she brought home the gold on trampoline! She was very proud of herself for beating two USTA National team members for it:)
You must qualify elite in the event you are trying out for on the national team. Current elite difficulites are tumbling 8.0, trampoline 7.5 and double-mini 4.8. There is no minimum age for the USTA National team. I have a friend who coaches in our state and he has four girls on the current...
USTA Nationals went pretty well (DD will argue with that!). She made finals on trampoline and double-mini, placing in the top 10 for advanced level. Missed finals for tumbling by a few tenths. Couldn't be prouder of her! In July we head to Detroit for AAU Jr Olympics. I can't wait to see...
Anyone else going to USTA T&T Nationals in Ft. Lauderdale next week? Looking forward to watching DD, her team and all others competing. And also some good beach time! Good luck to all other tumblers going!
My DD competes USTA/AAU and the levels for tumbling are beginner, advanced beginner, sub-novice, novice, intermediate, sub-advanced, advanced, elite. For trampoline and double-mini they are beginner, novice, intermediate, sub-advanced, advanced, elite.
My DD loves Addidas leos. She had one picked out at her state meet this past weekend and we told her if she gets State Champion she gets a leo. Well, she came home with two state championships and two new leotards! They must have been last years styles because they were selling all GK &...
DD was going to try out for USTA national team until a back injury the season after she qualified elite. She took almost two years off before returning to the competition team this fall. AAU national team may not be as "prestigious" as USTA, but she did beat out current USTA team members...
Anyone else going to the AAU National Team/Stars of Tomorrow trials in Indianapolis next weekend (Feb 16-17)? We have five team members going. Looking forward to cheering them on, but not the 8 hour drive!
