    Cheating?

As a mom who has observed conditioning only, I can tell you there are some kids who ALWAYS cheat and those who rarely do. I won't say never because I suspect they ALL cheat at some point!! The coach my daughters have now makes them do their reps as a group... she will count and have them all...

    Parents DD got her pullover!

It's only "minor" AFTER they get it!! Tell her congrats and way to go!!! My oldest took FOREVER to learn it. She could do her shoot through and stride circle before she got the silly pullover!!

    Parents What's your secret?

I am self-employed out of the home (I do home daycare during the day and sew leotards in "off hours"), so I am somewhat flexible! I just don't always want to haul five extra kids along, kwim? :) Our gym is 30 minutes from here. DH goes in to work early so he can be home early to stay with...

    Preschoolers and Backbends/Bridges

My 3yo ds is in a preschool class. They only do tabletops until they move up to "regular" class. That said, my now 6yo dd was doing bridges on her own at 4. She was not TAUGHT to do them but figured it out on her own because she is just that way, kwim? I had NO idea it could cause spine...

    Motionwear and other brands

Don't know how I missed this thread..... If you are still looking for new leos, I do custom ones (starting at $20). You pick your fabrics, style, and back. My website is listed in my signature!

    Let's Talk Leotards:o)

I'm pretty sure the OP found a couple of leos that her dd REALLY loved.... LOL!! And I know where she got them from too..... :)

    Parents Doesn't work hard

My 6yo was a lot like your dd. Drove me crazy, but I had to take myself out of the equation and leave it up to the coaches. Since she's moved up to team though, I've noticed a HUGE change in her at gym. She puts in 110% all the time, doesn't mess around hardly at all (except when her 8yo sis...

    Parents Series of unfortunate events

Oh man! She can't win for trying!!! Here's hoping everything heals up quick and the shoulder isn't too serious!

Parents anyone out there sew their own leos?

Try www.spandexhouse.com. Or try calling a local performing arts center and asking who sews their costumes and if you might be able to purchase their remnants. The stretch velvet at Hancock's really isn't that great, unfortunately, and they REALLY like their fabrics there. When it was...

    Parents Hello from a Newbie

No!! Nequia (did I spell that right?) is SO much prettier!! I have a good friend who is Nigerian. She gave her daughters plain ole "American" names as first and Nigerian middle names, and I've always thought their names were so pretty too!

    Parents Hello from a Newbie

LOL I think that's a common disease around here... :) I won't even get into how many we have around here.... My girls are awful too - every new fabric I get, they think they need a new one... I started doing leos after being blown away by the price of name brands.... and being disgusted by...

    Parents Hello from a Newbie

Hi, and welcome! Your daughter is ADORABLE!! (I watched her vids) I love your name too - it is really pretty!!

    Parents Transportation Woes

What we've done is adjust schedules. I do daycare from home so I NEVER get off early (heck, most days I end up working late!), but dh goes to work early (5.30am) on gym days. He comes home early to stay with the boys while I take the girls to gym. We are fortunate that his schedule allows the...

    Parents Who has a butt?

I used to hate cold weather when we had to pull out long pants.... Summer was fine with shorts & skirts, but trying to find pants long enough for the legs but small enough around stunk... thank goodness for the adjustable elastic waists!! (I was pretty excited she can finally wear 5's without...

    Parents Who has a butt?

My 6yo definitely has a gymnast body - I was just telling a friend it's almost scary to see your 6yo "ripped". She joined team beginning of June and I'm already noticing huge differences in her. Mind you, she goes to practice and then comes home and spends another two hours working on her own...

    Parents A/C in the gym

Yep, there is air at ours.... the girls would never practice if not!! Currently over 100F, and that's not adding in the heat index! Still - it's warm in there, particularly up in the parent viewing area. I often hear other parents complaining about how warm it is, but I bet they would yell...

What level would I be at...

Our gym has rec classes by age - there are plenty of older girls in there, some just wanting to have fun with gymnastics, others wanting to learn some basics in order to try out for team. So I wouldn't sweat being with a bunch of little kids!!

    Parents Were you a gymnast?

Nope. I was a competitive swimmer (swam roughly 2.5hrs twice a day, 4hrs Sat, plus dryland training, 400/800 free was "my" race) until my mid-teens when my love for horses won out. Showed hunters/jumpers after that, pretty much rode any horse offered to me in order to pay for my own jumper!
