It doesn't take long because they do it every week. There's also a hired cleaning crew every Sunday that vacuums the whole gym and cleans the mats. It is a very clean gym compared to some I've seen, for sure.
Wow. The entire team that has classes that day (about 50 kids) empties the pit EVERY Friday. It's part of their conditioning. They are timed. Takes them about an hour. Once everything is out, it's inspected and anything left in it removed. Then they fill it back up. I couldn't imagine only doing...
Hi, a family I dearly love is moving to Texas. I'm sad to see them go. Their dd is testing out of 4 and 5 next month and should be ready for 6 in the spring. She's 8, will be 9 by spring. They are moving to the Keller/ft worth area. Good gyms I can suggest for them??
Thanks in advance!!
Nope. Don't do it. Not at training level 4 age 7. There are a million and one good reasons to let her be on team, but do not expect a college scholarship at this point. If all your eggs are in that basket, you are better off putting all the money you would spend on gym in a savings account and...
My dd at 6 initially wanted to do gym bc her dance classes were too boring for her. She didn't know what the Olympics were and didn't care. Just wanted to flip around. Now 8 years later she's trying to get all her skills to go 10 bc she plans on taking over the gym from her coach/owner when he's...
If she likes the grips she has, ask the coach for the brand. Either way, I'd ask the coach which brand to get. If coach doesn't really care, then I guess it would depend on personal preference...narrow/wide. Velcro/buckles. Thin leather/thick leather.
My ds loves ten-o grips, Velcro. My dd...
The boys just snack when they need to. It's never been a problem or an issue. The coaches can't work with hungry, cranky kids. The coaches make time for water breaks bc I'm not sure the kids would do it without a reminder.
My dd works out 5 hrs in the summer, and they, too, don't get a...
...ever hear of the boiling frog...???
Although, at my dd gym, we like the parents invited to team to know up front. We give them what we call the"scary talk" so they know what they are getting into and there are no surprises. That way, we know they will stick around for the season if they commit.
Welcome! I have two level 10s,boy 16, currently rehabbing an elbow ocd injury and 14 yr old girl. My ds has changed gyms, but that was a long story and he had his old gyms blessing. My dd has never been at another gym. Same since starting gym at 6, so sorry I can't really offer any help there...
There's a bolt in the back of our gym(attached to some old piece of apparatus that doesn't get used) the kids use to whittle out the holes in their new grips. Maybe have him ask his teammates what's around the gym that they use.
Echoing the long Nike ones. Both my dd and ds like them. And they wash up really nice, too! Best, you can just pick them up at the sports store. You don't have to order them!
So very sad. Our optional girls would love to send her a pic tomorrow. Where would you post it to? I just saw a hash tag in the article, no place to post.
Well...not quite same situation, but my ds, training level 10, was.diagnosed with osteochondritis dissecans (elbow) in late January. Had surgery early March. He's doing great, but still no weight bearing until June. He's gone in at least twice a week to strength train with his team and he's...
I didn't mean it was sad for them. I meant it was sad for my kids. It changes their training dynamic when a close team mate leaves. They are still friends and in contact with the ones they were the closest to, but it's not the same in the gym for my gymmies. That's why it's sad.
We just had a new team parent meeting today. It's exciting to see the enthusiasm. But sad, too. My dd has one kid left that started with her. She's training 10. The kid that started devo team with her is level 8. Same training group. My ds has no one left that started with him. He's at a...
