    Parents PA Gymnastics

I'm a former PA gym mom and there several great gyms as well as many good gyms in the state. If you would give a general area, we could give you options. The thing to remember is that gym should be fun and a fit that meets your dd's needs. If she having fun and progressing, then let her be...

    Travel meet suggestions...

My daughters favorite travel meet was the Beach Break held by Gymnastics and More in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. All the participants get a plaque and they give placement plates you put on the plaque to 75% out. It's always held President's Day weekend and there are some great hotels and...

86 year old demonstration floor routine at Cottbus

I would watch it. While I enjoy seeing some of the more difficult tricks, I really miss the more artistic gymnastics of the past.

    Parents Home Schooling

My daughter was home schooled for 5th grade because of issues with a teacher. She had this teacher for 3rd grade and then he was moved to 5th grade and she got him again. Since there were only 2 teachers per grade, she would have to have him for some classes. We were in Pennsylvania at the...

    WAG Leotard strap width rules

I would love to see the leos cut with more bum coverage especially in NCAA gymnastics. On many occasion they wind up looking more like a thong by the end of a routine.

Parents Ideas for displaying child's medals from meets

My daughter didn't like the medal holders she saw because they had hooks that would wrinkle the medal ribbons. So we bought four wooden peg racks at a craft store and painted them. They had about 6 pegs in a straight line (not the accordian style). Then we put them on the wall with two on top...

    Parents Team Hairstyles

My daughters team required hair to be in a ponytail with ringlets. She had to sleep in curlers before a meet and if the meet involved an overnight hotel stay, she had to limit her pool time. She had very long thin hair and no matter what I did, the curls would fall out before the end of the...

    Practice Cancelled because of Heat?

Dd's no longer does gym but her gym didn't have a/c. The team kids have morning practice because of the heat. The gym is in a warehouse and has lots of fans and they leave the doors open. The kids drink lots of water and get a popcicle mid practice. We are in Texas and have had 20 days of...

Just found out that we are losing a great coach...

I think writing notes is a great idea. I'm not a coach but I personally would rather have sheets of paper that I could put in a binder or scrapebook than a big banner or poster board. The book would be easier to pack and then could go on a bookshelf at my new home. The banner or poster board...

Parents I am so done with gymnastics

I want to thank you all for your kind words and support. Dd made the decision to quit gymnastics. She said she really doesn't feel like the coaches think she is trying and she's not happy at gym anymore. She also said she will miss gym but she won't miss the pressure to get her BHS. I told...

Parents I am so done with gymnastics

I'm not looking for advice or sympathy only looking to vent. Quick back story. Dd started on a gymnastics team when she was 6. She did a year on preteam and then spent 3 years as a level 4. There was one gym change during that time which was due to scheduling conflicts. The first gym...

    Parents IGC newbie

Dd just took a regular suitcase with wheels and it worked fine. It's a long walk from the parking lot to the cabins and most of it is paved so it's easy to handle regular suitcases. The luggage has to go under the beds so two kids have to fit their luggage under the bottom bunk. The kids get...

Not really a question, but gotta say regarding parents

No need to totally shut up, just give it time. I understand where you are coming from and I'll share with you my experience on this board. I’ve been a member of Chalk Bucket for just a year now and I was totally taken aback at the beginning. I felt the posters were harsh, critical and...

    Pits at your gym?

Dd's gym has one above ground pit at the end of the tumble trak. There is also some room off the side of the tumble trak that they can tumble into. For things like bar dismounts, they use the belt.
