    Forward roll on the beam

I would like to learn forward roll on the beam (just to sit straddling the beam, not to standing). Please post any tips that might help. In particular, how to stay straight!

Squeeze your ears with your arms and elbows the entire time, as well as the rest of your body. Roll slowly until you get used to it.

Holding underneath the beam and squeezing it to death helps control your roll.

stand in a tuck, and try focussing on a point in front of you. the trick is to go low and quick. starting the roll from standing up will just make it harder, same as kind of diving into it.

When you squat down, hold the top of the beam. As you start rolling, quickly slide your hands down the side of the beam and grab underneath it (almost as if you're resting with your hands underneath your head, but the beam is in the way). If you grab tight enough, it should stop your roll and you'll end up lying on the beam, then you can straddle and sit up. Hope this helps and was clear!

Can you do a solid candlestick on the beam? I tell my kids to think of it as going foward into a candlestick instead of backward.

No, I've never tried a candlestick on the beam. Where do you put your hands for that?
