Mid thigh...that's too big. Then we can go the other way with this conversation. She could have snapped to hard (because she wasn't used to the high block) and over rotated. The over rotation would cause her to shoot the BHS too low.

Knee height and below is usually a good guide for snap down block height.

You explained it to a T JBS... it seemed pretty obvious to me when I watched it - the size really did not fit, but I am just "the mom". That was what brought the curiosity on block vs. floor... I can see how both are beneficial/necessary, but the sizing of the block vs. the size of the child should matter as well - tx for your help

With snap downs lets please change the name to snap ups ...get that chest up and get those feet in front of your body...just being picky though

That's funny...we were calling them "snap ups" around our gym for a while. I don't know why we stopped, the kids understood it much better.
