please correct me if I am wrong but when you recieve your safety certification, there are strict guidelines about how many coaches and how close even you need to be to your gymnasts as they work out (all of the workout) in your gym. The word litigation comes to mind with the thought of not having coaches supervising all aspects of the practices. We too let the older girls time splits, count reps, work with the younger gymnasts; ect... but never without supervision. I would be very wary of any gym... good gymnasts or not... that didn't adhear to pre-set saftey standards and in my own opinion, exceeded the minimum standards!
