Last year was the first time our gym had a Level 3 team competing. That team won team at every meet but one (where they took second). This year, the old Level 3 team is now Level 4. They've won team at every meet. It got me thinking about how they're leaving a great legacy for those who will follow.

Last night, my daughter was so happy after her meet. She performed her best all season, but she was really happy about being with her girls. The team is close and almost devoid of drama. The older girls in the gym always have a hug and a kind word for my daughter and the other younger girls.

Then it hit me! The important legacy isn't about titles and accolades, it's about the culture you help foster IN your gym. I told my little one to find ways to be kind to smaller gymnasts and to let them know that she cares about them just like the big girls do with her. No matter what place you take, you come home to the culture you've built. I'm glad we come back to a great one!
