Conditioning and training whilst injured - Help please

Hey guys about two months ago I had a petty bad fall off bars..
I rolled my left ankle out, I went to the doctor and they said it wasnt fractured, but I had dislocasted my ankle and they thought i had particaly tore two ligaments and one tendon I was put into a walking boot and therapy. I went back and my ankle was doing better so they put me on a two week hold in therapy and they put me in a velocity ankle brace, I was then released back to gymnastics after being out for i'd say 3 weeks? I lost quite a few skills and I have just got them back, last week i got highbar kips and punch fronts on floor... I went back to the doctor and I had to get a MRI it turned out that I dislocated my ankle and I have several badly bruised bones and a cartlidge defect..I go to a specialist for my ankle on April 18... most likely I will be place back into a boot for up to 4 months :/ or They will do surgery and i will be out of gymnastics for 5 months... What is something I could do to keep up with my skills? I really can't afford to lose any skills due to this injury... Help Please:) Any drills maybe?

Partly it depends on what direction they go with it. Obviously if they do surgery you will be completly our for a bit and may be in a bit of pain and probably won't want to do much for a couple of weeks. If they don't do surgery you can def. still go to gym and watch and learn by watching others and seeing what corrections they get and you can also keep the rest of your body in shape. Your doctor can advise you on what you may be able to do, I know a lot of girls even with bad ankle injuries can do pit bar, that way if you come off there is not a hard landing. Something else is you can mentally go through the motions of your skills and squeeze the muscles you need to engage to do the skill. Of course you can get some killer abs and arm muscles with all the situps and pushups you may be able to do! There are a few ideas, good luck to you!
 
It's hard to say without knowing your exact limitations, but limited bars and upper body/core conditioning should all still be possible.
 
A good physiotherapist should be able to advise you on what training you can do. Even better if you can find one who knows something about gymnastics. If not, you may be able to find one who specialises in dance.
