Hi! My DD is Xcel Bronze, not sure if that matters for my question.

I am curious how the deductions work on beam.
Balance checks (arm waves, etc.) count as a deduction, right? A fall does, as well, obviously. Are they worth the same deduction?

If a gymnast balance checks while fighting to stay on the beam then falls off... Is that a deduction for the arm waving, etc. AND the fall? Or just the fall?

This happened to my DD tonight, so I'm just curious. She fought so hard to stay on (which makes me very proud!), just couldn't do it.

A fall is worth 0.5
Wobbles can be as little as 0.05 and up to 0.2
Total execution deductions cannot exceed 4.0 - and that includes falls and wobbles and sickled feet, etc.

But if you wobble while trying not to fall vs. just flat out falling.. Do they count the wobbles AND the fall afterwards?

Okay, thank you! I was hoping that is what the case would be. She ended up getting a 7.75 and I didn't know if it was the fall and other deductions or the fall and her big balance check before it with other deductions.
