Does anyone know a best way to prevent mats from slipping on a school gymnasium floor? Just your regular basic blue panel mats and some thick landing mats. We started running classes in a school but everything slips...all we can do right now, do everything against the wall. Any ideas how we could modify the mats or what we could do, especially mats that are used for landings?

If you are not allowed to permanently affix anything to the floor.
The best thing to do would be to get self-sticking velcro and determine your team's personal needs for how much is needed per mat. We had one mat that required a velcro strip just on one end... another one took one at each end and perpendicular in the middle... you could also do diagonals on each corner.
If you can't permanently attach anything to the floor, you might want to invest in one of those bathtub mats with the suction cup bottoms. You could cut it to fit the shapes you needed and apply the one half of the velcro to them. Then you could pull it up at the end of practice. This is re-useable, unlike applying the velcro to duct tape.

At meets I've seen coaches spray water between mats to keep them from slipping. Don't know how effective/safe this is or if it will even work between mats and the floor but you could give it a shot!

We have used yoga mats before... And spray water between mats, though I am not sure if that would work with a gym floor... But it might:)
