Anyone have one? We are going to BlackJack and Colorado Open for the big meets, and lots of little ones in between....

Anyone else going to those 2??

Ours is pretty much the same as last year's, although our older guys are not doing BlackJack because it's the same weekend as the one that our gym hosts.

I'm really excited because our state meet is at a place that's only about an hour away this year. Last year is was about 5 hours (7 with kids and stopping) and no convenient hotels. And at level 5, we'll probably get to do regionals, which is also closer this year than it was last year.

Was hoping for Blackjack as our upper levels usually go, but it's the same weekend as one of our related gym's meet. Excited for Houston National and Windy City though.

Nothing official yet, but I spoke with the coaches about what they are thinking. 4 meets, all local but 2 of those are sizable meets at colleges.

No schedule yet. They will all be relatively close. I'm looking forward to seeing what he makes of it all. It will also be fun to see the routines put together more than once a year.

We might do CO next year. This year Gaspirilla in Tampa is our travel meet. Optionals regionals is local; but compulsory regionals is travel. (I'm not loving the splitting them up since it can really raise BC expenses)

No big meets this year and still not sure if they'll be JD kids at our state/local ones...although there were about 15 kids in L8-9 last year in our state (out of maybe 30 total) who due to age will be forced to 10 or JD or quit so maybe a bunch will do JD? Younger boy will do all the team meets and thankfully regionals isn't a $500 flight this year (or 13 hour drive over mountains)...no regionals and probably fewer meets for the older unless he switches to event specialist L10 mid year (if he gets 3-4 event up to level he may...but most likely he'll just try to stay healthy and progress while concentrating on music and school more - he's only a sophomore, so maybe he can still stick it out long enough to get back to JO competition).

Good thing is both boys can drop back practice hours some and still be healthy and progress with repeating/JD...and both are seeing the benefits of that now...

Just got our schedule:
gym practice meet Nov 6-7
William & Mary early Dec
landover, MD early January
UMD February
then states or whatever if relevant.
all drivable, and one a month seems a good pace.

I almost hope state is far enough to warrant an overnight. They did a lvl3 state last year for the 2nd time and it was just far enough that overnight the night before made sense. The boys had so much fun! I'm sorry for any other guests trying to use the hotel pool but they had a blast.

We must be nearby -- we're doing two of the meets you mentioned too! Plus nine more (counting states & regionals). It's going to be a loooong season!

Wow 11 total! That will be a long season. The higher levels go to more meets. They give us a soft entry. :)

It is nice to have a neighbor!

We are making William and Mary our travel meet this year. Will be fun to travel a ways to get the pants beat off of you, but it is good to get out of the armpit of gymnastics once and a while ;)

We'll be heading to Blackjack and Windy City for our big travel meets. We also have 7 other meets that are local or relatively nearby in bordering states. Add in State and Regionals and our boys are doing a total of 11 meets. I'm already exhausted! (But also really looking forward to it, I LOVE meet season!)

I don't know how you all survive eleven meets!! I am glad to hear that most are fairly close.

Maybe we will get our final, definitive meet schedule tonight!

We'll be there too! With 11 meets, it's hard to find many on the East Coast we're not going to.

Our gym has 11 meets on our to-do list, but only 10 of those apply to the compulsory kids, which mine are. And yeah, my kids will be doing all 10 meets. Whee! One of them is our own meet and two are states and regionals. We're traveling to West Point, and the optionals are also traveling to BlackJack.

Fun! My son is planning to compete as a level 8 with the hope of moving up to 9 at some point in the season (not sure if that will happen though). Due to the age change, he will lose his season as a 13 yo and have to compete this year as a 14 yo. (He started a little late so this is just his 4th competitive season.) Sounds like you all are in Region 3 as well so we'll probably see you at some of the Texas meets. We're going to WOGA and Metroplex. All the new rules and uncertainty have me simultaneously dreading and looking forward to the beginning of the season!
