There are a couple similar threads so I decided to start one specifically about adult gymnastics :]

I've learned:

-that it is actually possible to gain flexibility after the age of 12
-that gymnastics manages to make every single part of your body sore at some point
-that most people will think you're insane when you tell them you take gymnastics
-that there seems to be an issue with calling us "gymnasts" just because we're not kids
-that a helpful tip from a team coach can make an adult gymnast's day...you don't have to pretend we're not there!
-that there aren't nearly enough adult meets out there!
-that I can amaze myself with my physical and mental toughness every class
-that two 50+ year olds can inspire an entire gym
-that team coaches and kids getting excited over adults getting new skills is quite possibly one of the coolest things in the world

What have you learned?

I've learned that at (gasp) 40, I want to try adult gym inspite of being horribly out of shape.

The mind may never forget how to do it even though the body says "are you out of your mind?". That body also doesn't heal quite as well as it used to.

That you can learn new skills, improve old skills and get stronger and fitter and more flexible, even when you're 45!
