Why was John Geddert not on the floor?

From watching the Women's Qualifications again last night, it looked like John Geddert wasn't on the floor after the bar rotation. Did something happen? Is he not the USA Women's Olympic team coach?

He is the head coach, but as I understand it, he can switch out with other coaches so that the girls can have their own coach there on their "important" events. For beam and floor it looks like they let Ali's coach on the floor, probably since those were the two events where the US was really expecting/needing her to hit.

Only two coaches are allowed on the floor with the team and one of them has to be famale. The coaching swaps were practiced ahead of time. Everyone knew who would be on the floor when.
