Illini Men's Gymnastics: Spring Dominates Day One of Olympic Trials

Former Illinois great Justin Spring made a strong case for selection to the 2008 Olympic Team Thursday night with an electrifying performance on the first day of the U.S. Men's Gymnastics Olympic Trials held at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, Pa. The current Illinois assistant coach finished in the top two on four events and led the all-around competition through five rotations with a score of 77.050, nearly a point above his nearest competitor (Spring does not compete on pommel horse).
