Gasparilla is a really great meet! It's huge and teams come from all over. It's held at a Major League Baseball stadium. Good location to head to the beach, too.
My DD just got her kip yesterday...and, today, not one on her own. I've watched every girl get it and then lose it for a week or two. Then it slowly comes back and takes a while to get solid, then they can do it on the high bar. How frustrating.
We have a very young gym. Our bronze ranges from 5-12, Silver 6-12, and Gold 7-13, youngest Platinum was 10 last year and oldest girl at our gym is 14.

Exactly. There really wouldn't be a purpose to competing Xcel once an athlete reaches level 8. It's more of an alternate route to JO levels 1-6, although some girls seem to compete in Xcel Platinum until they are strong enough for 7. That's why Diamond is so small, because most of those girls...

Also be prepared for the entry fee. That surprised me last year. I should have known...it is Disney! $27 for a one day pass and $47 for the weekend pass. Kids are $12. The food is also expensive so we eat before or after.
