My DD had surgery last Thursday to fix an avulsion fracture in her elbow. They had to place a screw and washer to bring the "funny bone" back where it belongs. 2 weeks in a hard cast, then 10 weeks in a mobility brace. No weight bearing for 12 weeks!!! We have cancelled all plans for meets...
Just wanted to update after our appt.
DD will have surgery this week to place a screw to hold the bone in place. Then 2 weeks in hard cast and 10 weeks in a mobility brace. Total of 12 weeks with no load bearing. Hopefully you get better news than we did.
We are in the same boat. Dislocation with an avulsion fracture from a fall off the bars. Injury happened on Wednesday, ER Visit, ortho appt tomorrow, surgery Wednesday and at minimum 4-6 weeks in a cast and then they will have to remove the pins and likely she will need PT as well. We've...
My dd goes 25 hours a week, she's finished her level 4 season and training for 5 or 6.
She goes 5 hours a day, 5 days a week. I'd say at minimum 2 hours a day is devoted to conditioning.
Our gym offers 3 days of extra conditioning a week. 1.5 hours per day. It's during daytime hours so typically only homeschool kids can attend. They run a lot, bar endurance, they focus lots on body positions, flexibility etc. Level ranges from level 4-9. Our gym does not charge anything...
5 months ago my dd literally landed in a handstand and walked her hands to the end of the table and flipped off the other side!!! Couple of privates and hard work and she's been either 2nd or 3rd place at the last few meets! There is hope!
Following this! We have the same problem. DD has over splits beautifully, but can barely get off the ground on her straddle jump. I believe she has weak ankles and leg strength. She wants to use her back muscles instead of her legs.
Thank you all. AandAsmom this meet had all new equipment. The bars were off too. She said the settings didn't feel right, and they weren't chalky enough.
I guess that's just part of the sport! :). She said she can't wait for her home meet on her equipment!
Thanks so much for the replies! I didn't feel like it was a complete fall. I'm still super proud of her! :) she competed level 2 last season and then only 2 level 3 meets. So this is a whole new world for her! :)
Thank you! She just told me she left out a couple things! I didn't even. Notice till she told me! This was a 9.175, so hopefully next time we can get in the 9.5 range! She's worked very hard on form this year!
Is there such a thing? What is the deduction if so? DD claims it is .5, same as a complete fall.
She said the beam was brand new and there was too much resistance so her foot just quit turning! Lol. This was her second level 4 meet.
My dd did 2 level 3 meets, before moving to level 4.
First meet she just did glide/pull over scored 9.65 (1st place)
Second meet with kip scored 9.35 (3rd place)
Both routines were of similar quality with the exception of the kip.
I think doing the kip gave her some much needed confidence! She...
