WAG Am I wrong to do this?

She can compete in tennis, and she can possibly play on the JV team at school next year. My husband thinks that we should go the tennis route. Tennis is a sport that she can play forever if she chooses.

She takes a dance class one day a week. We don't have a ballet school.

He doesn't allow the team to do privates at another gym. If she is caught doing this she will be dismissed from the team. Also, I found that other gyms aren't open to it.

I guess it's not that important to her then because she will not watch a youtube video.

She won't watch them. I think she's a little frustrated with gymnastics even though she won't admit it. She doesn't like to think about gymnastics when she is at home.

Thanks... Lots of good advice here... My daughter and I are very close. We have talked about moving on to another activity for a couple of years now. She knows that almost no one goes past level 4 at our gym ever. I mainly let her stay in gymnastics because she loves being at the gym, and...

WAG Am I wrong to do this?

He doesn't watch them that closely most of the time. He gives the gymnasts an assignment, and then goes to practice with the cheerleaders. Then yells across the gym for them to move to the next area, bars or whatever, and tells then what their next assignment is. He can see them, but his...

WAG Am I wrong to do this?

One more thing... Her only goal has been to make it to optionals. She just wanted to do one year of what "she" thinks is real gymnastics. I've tried to be patient, just hoping that she would get there. I'm not sure it's possible for her at our gym. Her coach has promised her for the last two...

WAG Am I wrong to do this?

I have included her on this. By the way, the coach told her to move up or quit the other day before I said anything. I have explained everything to her that I have said on here. She agrees with me, but she said it was just so hard for her to make a decision. She loves going to the gym. We...

Maybe she could make it, but I'm not so sure. The other kids have been playing their sport since they were 3. She would definitely have some catching up to do.

If this were an option, we would have done it a long time ago. The next closest gym is over an hour away (she is not my only child so this would not be possible). They are better, but still have few optional girls. I bet we have less than 25 optional girls in the whole state. At her meets...

WAG Am I wrong to do this?

What I mean by going no where is she will start Junior High next year. She could play basketball, tennis, softball, run cross country, or cheer with her friends. Pretty soon she will be the only girl her age left at the gym. Most have already moved on. I'm sure she will want to in a couple of...

WAG Am I wrong to do this?

Well, her coach wants her to quit and just do tumble if she doesn't pass level 5. He says there's no point in continuing after this year if she can't score out.

WAG Am I wrong to do this?

You are right. Much of the problem is with the program. That's why I think she needs to try something else if she can't make this program work for her. I just don't see the point of continuing going on a road to no where when there may be something else that she enjoys just as much if she...

Ha! No one at our gym has ever done or even practiced a giant as far as I know. I'm sure we don't train like most of your gyms. Another girl who started gymnastics with her at Level 1 is at level 4 for the third year.
