I am a little confused. You are saying that you have an option to put her in camp at your gym, but they would work on current skills with her. Then you said that you would put her in camp somewhere else, do you know for a fact that they would work on level 4 bars with her? Are the coaches better...
yeah, it does sounds like a couple of judges just made their mission to stick it to everyone:confused:, if there were no multiple falls in a routine, then it looks like the girls were absolutely hammered on form
I've had coaches approaching me at a meet asking for explanation of a score and I...
As a parent, I would tell you to not even bother understand why;).
But since I am also a judge, I can tell you that bad form, incomplete or omitted elements and falls of course can drive the scores down. Did the girls score in 8-9s all season? If yes, then it's a very significant drop, even if...
i know some of the gyms in our area are very comfortable with girls skipping levels, sometime more than one level a year which is fine as long as the gymnast is not struggling, your dd seems to be taking the lower levels by storm so why not challenge her, the question is have you spoken to the...
I wouldn't say that it is common practice in this area, other big meets had sessions with times available weeks before the meet, like Christmas on the Chesapeake in Maryland, same for Starstruck in Atlantic City
I am actually pretty shocked myself that Parkettes haven't posted their schedule...
there is only schedule by days on their website, no times yet, I agree that it should have been out by now so that everyone would finalize their traveling plans
the deduction actually could be similar - 0.5 for the fall plus 0.2-0.3 for mistakes on the skill, but personally I would encourage her to still try it, if she wants to win she should develop "go for it" mentality, compulsory levels are all about required elements you don't want her to get used...
as far as I know it will be viewed as "failure to perform a "cutting" action", which is substitution of an element and then deduction could be as high as 0.8 points
if she also doesn't change hand grip after the mill circle, it's another 0.1
Good luck to Kadee!!! I think she will be just fine and will tell you after the meet how much fun it was:)
I wish you good luck as well, and although your heart will be jumping out of your chest when she is the next in line to go, try to enjoy it.:)
thank you, it's just in our state it seems that judges are supposed to announce their availability in the summer, while DD meets are not scheduled until mid September, so how does one pick weekends without knowing when they are not available:confused:, sorry it's off topic here, congrats again!!!
I wouldn't necessarily decide that your DD is not cut out for team, especially because you mentioned that she wouldn't have a problem getting on level 4 team, so she has the skills and she obviously really wants it. We had a similar issue at our old gym and when I spoke to owner, she told me...
that's great!!! congrats!!! now you will be paid for spending days at meets:D
i was looking into judging myself for a while, I've studied the deductions so I am sitting at meets and scoring routines to pass time and entertain the people around me:), but never took the exam, how will it work...
just wanted to wish your DD good luck, I am sure she'll have a blast and will come back with a new skill or two;)
I am not sure if it's the same for TOPs camps, but I know that for regular camps at the ranch, the coaches get towels there, so maybe if her coach gets two, she can share one with...
Congratulations to your DD! Great meet and gold medal is just an icing on the cake!
Reading about the 5 steps reminded me of a kid on our team that has so much power on her round off-back handspring, it looks like she has enough for an additional back handspring and she takes steps or even falls...
I actually prefer if DD has less practice the week of the meet which may sound weird. Surprisingly, she did better on the meets when there is some kind of holiday or some other re-scheduling of practice during the week. She looked fresher and sharper and results were better.
There was one meet...
the routine does take your breath away, watching it I wish there was some kind of bonus for execution in compulsories, cause even with all the little deductions, that kid was FLYING, just incredible confident swinging, so if there was an execution bonus it probably would have brought her to 10...
