Just a funny thing. My dd competes xcel. Loves it! Anyway, I work in finance, so I am dealing with excel. I wonder how dumb my fellow employees think i am when I tell them to do an xcel spreadsheet. I do it all the time from habit.
I wouldn't think twice about my DD spending the night with her coach. She has coached my DD for 7 years. When my dd was younger and had day practices, her coach would babysit until I got off work. However, I can see why in other circumstances it would throw red flags. It is a shame that in...
I believe region 5 has a more competitive xcel program. We are from region 5 and that is what i have been told. My dd practices 12-15 hours a week for platinum. We dont have a bronze team.
Our gyms issue is we only have about 40 girls but 8 levels. So a lot of sessions but not a lot of girls in the sessions. We dont have need for a lot of coaches.
We have had coach run back in forth between two gyms before. The coach talked to a coaches that our team was traveling with and they helped out. I found sorry for our coach though. She was exhausted by the end of the session.
I am curious now. My dd wouldnt land her cw on beam at the gym. It was almost like she turned her body to land on the floor beside it. She never missed one at meets. When the coach would aak her what the problem was she would say she didnt know. She said she wasnt afraid. I always thought it was...
So my dd has been having a successful time training for this competition season. She moved up to platinum and had gained many new skills. Her form was looking really good. It was like something just clicked. She was moving past her fears. She was confident again after several years of...
This is a great idea. Someone should start a group for the parents of 12 year olds. I know i could use a sounding board to keep me from pulling out all my hair!!
I am going to make my dd an appointed with a doctor. Just not sure where yet. We live in a rural area. There isnt a lot of options. Thanks for all your advice.
It sounds like to me xcel is a good option for your dd. My dd competed JO for 3 years and then moved to xcel last year. She moved because of beam fears. My dd loves xcel. It is a really good program for those who aren't necessarily wanting to compete at the elite level. My dd loves having her...
After reading this post, i was curious so i asked my dh if he knew what level our dd was. He looked at me like i was nuts. He then said well, she isn't exactly a level. She is competing platinum. I just smiled and said yep.
My dd has recently had what i consider a pretty big growth spurt. She probably grew about 3 inches since may. She went up two leo sizes. The problem is the last two months she has just complained about something hurting after every practice. Mostly it is either heel, ankle or knee. Its always...
I know the op said she was done with this thread but i thought i would add my opinion anyway. There was a situation several years ago at my dds gym where i felt very strongly that my dd was treated unfairly concerning a move up similar to what the ops dd is going through. I still have hard...
I think it all depends on the gymnasts. My dd has a girl on her team that competes a bt that is very clean because she wants the good score. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. My dd is competing a full. Her bt would be cleaner but she would rather compete the harder skill. The full is...
I am not sure if I understand this. Your dd was going to be competing L3 routines at states and when she was with L2 she was watching the L3 practice routines?? If that's what was going on, it would be one os the silliest things i have heard.
