Thank you for your response gymnastjoy. I do agree with you. I definitely do not want to interfere in her training or be a hovering mama.
But in this case I feel this is a necessary place to step in. She will NOT get to compete if she can't get this skill. ALL the other girls can do it no...
Thank you so much for the ideas!!!
Yes it does sound like a "pistol"
That's a great idea to practice those.
I think there's a difference between the USAG beam routines and the AAU routines. This is an AAU beam routine. There's no forward roll in it.
Thanks!!!
So my 7 yr old who just joined team at a new gym has had 2 practices so far. She's doing ok but having trouble on what seems to be a pretty simple skill. But I have no idea how to help her get it.
In the level 2 beam routine, they swing their leg over and then tuck legs up, straighten one leg...
Hi Coaches,
Ok so my 7 yr old daughter just joined level 2 team. She's doing ok but having trouble on what seems to be a pretty simple skill. But I have no idea how to help her get it.

We are about 30 min away too. So i stay and watch practice. That's how I found this site--desperate for something interesting to do started searching the web. ;) like some others have said you can leave your chores like grocery shopping, going to post office, etc for gym time and get to know...
Hi!!
I completely understand what you're going through. I hate that the move to team process is such a mystery to us moms. I think every gym should hold try-outs that anyone can come to. At least that way it's very straight forward and then coaches would know the girls who truly want it.
We...
Thanks so much everyone!! We are very excited.
As far as paying for twins on team I suppose we do have to make some sacrifices (less vacations ect) to make it work out. But so worth it if both my girls are happy and excited to be competing.
Guess what??!!!!
We tried a new gym this afternoon and they accepted BOTH my girls onto their team. Woohoo!!!!!!
My sweet girls could not be more excited. They even practice at the same time. It could not be more perfect.
I'm extremely sad to leave our other wonderful gym. But everything about...
Thank you so much!!!
Thanks to you all and your encouragement we are checking out a new gym this afternoon. The head coach sounds so nice and I am so hopeful this may be a much better fit for us.
Thank you!!!
I'm pretty sure that any kid in our rec program, who had the above skills, would be given a chance for team. A mill circle is a hard one to get, especially for a child that only comes once or twice a week. It sounds like you're doing all you can...maybe taking Twin B to another gym for an...
It's like that movie "He's just not that into you" ;) This gym just isn't into my sweet girl and quite frankly that's their loss.
Hahahaha
I totally agree with so many of you that she could totally turn into a fabulous gymnast. She just needs a chance. She certainly is learning to work hard...
Wow!! Thank you SO very much everyone for the awesome advice and support!!! I appreciate it so much!!
I'm even more frustrated I'm afraid. I asked what type of things L should work on. It's conditioning type things--especially bars. Be able to do chin-ups etc. I asked about private lessons...
Hi, I am new here and I am SO glad I found this site.
I have 7 year old twin daughters who adore gymnastics.
My problem is one daughter (I will call her A) was asked about a year ago to be on the team at her gym.
the other daughter (I will call her L) has not been asked yet. She wants to be on...
