Parents Moving, looking for gym in Portland

We live in Vancouver but do have families that commute from Portland. We are also a very supportive and friendly, drama free gym.

Parents Moving, looking for gym in Portland

Make sure you check out SWAG (Southern Washington Academy of Gymnastics) in Vancouver, just across I-5. We are a brand new gym with amazing coaches! My daughter has been there since August and we are so happy.

WAG How many years- what level

DD has been in gymnastics off and on since Mommy & Me but didn't join team until a year and a half ago. She is currently competing Level 4 and training to hopefully be 6 or 7 next season.

    WAG Mock meets?

Our Mock meet has real judges and it is a sanctioned meet with scores that count. They do not score high at all. DD's teammate who ended the season as level 3 state champ scored a 6.9 on floor.

    WAG Leotards compulsory vs optionals

Our girls all wear the same leo. I like it because it helps them feel like a team regardless of level. We also keep our leos for 2 years so if you move from Compulsory to optionals in the in between year you aren't stuck buying a new leo.

WAG how many press handstands can you/your DD do?

My 9yo DD can do 3 in a row on a good day without dropping her bum on the floor. She is training L4 and just started Tops training a couple months ago.

    Parents Hours/tuition/assessment fees/leotard

My DD9 is training L4 and TOPs and practicing 18 hours during the summer and will likely train 15 during the school year. We pay $335/18 hours, approx $250 for leo & warmup (every 2 years) and approx $900 for assessments before fundraising. I paid $650 in assessments with very little fundraising...
