    WAG I'm annoyed

Another perspective - my DD is on a NCAA d1 team - an Ivy - so a bit different with different priorities. She has never been weighed, never been asked her weight and never been told what to eat. The coach does bring in nutritionists to speak and models very healthy eating which the girls...

    WAG Advice re: other activities

My DD did both Varsity Track & Field and gymnastics from 7th grade on. She was level 10 from 9th-12th grade. Her schedule looked like this: 7:30-2:10 school 2:30-4:15 (left a bit early) track 4:15-5:30 travel (we lived over an hour away - she ate and rested during this time) 5:30-8:30 gym 9:45...

    WAG New Penn State article

More Penn State articles - from national sources, finally getting the attention it deserves. http://www.people.com/article/penn-state-gymnastics-coaches-rachelle-jeff-thompson-abuse-body-shaming...

    WAG WWYD DD competing alone

I agree with everyone else - have her move up. My DD had to compete alone for a whole season plus many meets in other seasons. It wasn't her favorite thing to do but she was fine and enjoyed the individual attention from the coach.

    WAG Working through optional skills

I believe a gymnast from Southern Utah competed a Moors dismount. https://www.tumblr.com/tagged/suu-gymnastics The last video on the page I think.

    WAG College Letters

I think it was probably her scores, her level and her age. I don't believe there had been any big meets unless it was Easterns.

    WAG College Letters

My DD got a letter from a fairly successful d1 school addressed to her in care of her gym at about that age. It was a very general letter - congratulations on your gymnastics so far and keep us in mind as you progress in your gymnastics career. That was about 6 years ago so the letters could...

    WAG long commutes

I did post on the current thread "Ugly side of collegiate gymnastics" with my take of the current Penn St situation. My DD has had a good, hard first year. A close team, with supportive teammates, makes all the difference in the world!

    WAG long commutes

My DD started gymnastics 55 min away when she was 6 and started with level 4. When she started optionals at age 9 we had to switch gyms and the commute grew to 75 min. one way. We did this until she was 18, graduated high school, and started d1 college gymnastics. We had no choice as we live...

WAG The ugly side of college gymnastics

After lurking on this forum for over a year I felt compelled to join to comment on this thread. My DD just finished her freshman year on a D1 gymnastics team and has former teammates that are and have been on the bigger teams (Super Six) and smaller teams. I can understand the discrepancies in...

    WAG BHS on beam?

In JO my DD struggled with the bhs/bhs step out series up through level 10 with the layout. She competed it but was never comfortable and did not always get the credit for the connection. Her college coach recognized this and changed it to the two foot landing - what a difference!!! She now...
