ah. okay about the floor. i completely forgot about that, but i’m doing ft fp. I wasn’t sure a free hip was required on bars though? I was pretty sure it needed to be a circling element, which giants fulfill, but i could be wrong.
Last level 8 question. I’m trying to figure out start values so we can start to put together my routines on each event.
So if anyone can figure out what my start values on each event would be, that would be really helpful!!!

so everyone knows i couldn’t do giants for the life of me. i wouldn’t even get a spot because i thought they were so bad.
well today i went for it for the first time (with a spot, with a coach i trust) on the low bar and she was like oh you’re basically doing it by yourself. so we went to high...
So we get new floor routines every year. Some people get new routines and some people get passed down routines from higher level gymnasts. Summer time is when most people start looking at music, so most of us have music picked out. I’ve had two picked out— which my coaches liked both.
Later...
as of Friday, i came real close to a low bar giant. i haven’t worked giants in 2 years after i got injured and i’ve sort of just started working them again. it’s not really a mental thing, it’s just the lack of not working them.
Bars, because I need a lot of energy for bars in order to hit my skills. I also normally do relatively well on bars, and then the adrenaline kicks in so i can go to beam whereas i do pretty well there too :) then after that, i go to floor which is my best event, then leaving vault, a quick event...
another possibility is what i’ve done in L7 with clearhips and cut catches since both are Bs. Most girls at our gym that are L8 don’t do giants and do uprises with backhip circles before them and still managed to score mid / low 9s. (keep in mind my gym isn’t completely USAG, we only compete...
How bad would it kill a score to not have giants on bars, but have really clean clear hips or uprises instead? I have competed L7 successfully without giants, scoring high 8s and low 9s, but i don’t know how bad it would kill my score in L8. This would be the my L8 bar routine without giants...
i got about a nickel sized rip on the bottom of my hand today, and i’m not quite sure how to heal it. I put on new skin and it was the most unbearable pain in my life, i couldn’t move my hand and it became terribly itchy. I then put some antibiotic cream on like i normally would. I haven’t had a...
hopefully i have it now, lol. the reason I’m asking is because I haven’t worked giants in 2 years and giants aren’t even necessary for me, and are also a huge struggle. I just got cast handstand to flyaway at camp at the end of june. https://instagram.com/p/BWWM2N0BihmYBBej2O4OEPUP_VVXE_N6CE9nSw0/
I posted a while ago about my hand slipping off the bar coming out of handstands — while I haven’t got new grips yet I was able to get a new skill — supposedly the “hardest skill in the gym” which I’m kind of shocked. Here’s the skill:
I still don’t have giants...
Anything to help improve my...
Didn’t know where to post this..
Anyways, I recently went to a gymnastics camp, where I was working giants/chs to flyaways/twisting, etc. I’m pretty sure I’ve discussed this on here before that i slip off the bar coming out of handstands. My coach at my gym says it’s because of regripping the...
ah yes—summer practices. the beginning of working new skills and—failure!
So I recently got my CHS on HB on Monday (first time working them). I'm supposed to be getting my giants this summer, but after the first week it is NOT going well. I got the first part obviously, the CHS. But I can't...
Okay so since I am training level 7/8, this summer i'm working giants mostly.
Today was our first official "summer" practice , since we had state yesterday.
Anyways, I started working CHS on highbar since my ultimate goal for summer is to get my giants. Turns out this was A LOT easier than...
So a while back, when my sister was about 5 or so, (9 now), she took classes at our gym. However, she was really hyper (due to ADHD which was undiagnosed at the time), and quit. She switched to cheerleading. We've taught her a bhs which only took her a few months to get it on the couch and move...
I've been thinking about getting my cartilage piercing ever since I got my third loves back in August. My only question is, how would this work with gymnastics?
I obviously won't be getting a hoop or a very large earring, but will it affect anything in gymnastics?
thanks !! not to mention i still ended up getting first on floor with such a low score and tearing my mcl.. (grade 2, so i'm not dying lol just a few weeks off gym)
