Hey! So I've been gone from the forum for quite some time as DD (12) has been insanely busy I forgot to post anything on here.
So as some of you may know, DD has not been doing gymnastics for long, she has only been doing it for about 1.5 yrs. Granted, she did do dance for all of her life...
Woohoo! After a CRAZY first year of team and gym in general I'm proud to say we're done!
L7 State was a blast, DD (12) had so much fun.. Came in 1st on floor and beam, 2nd on vault and 3rd on Bars and 2nd overall. Super proud!
She will be switching to the L8 group starting on tomorrow. We're...
When DD learnt her BWO on beam I wasnt to nervous until one day she came home and said "Well I split the beam today" aparently her foot didnt get on all the way or something and she fell and split the beam. It sometimes makes me glad I miss watching practice some dayso_O
DD (12) recently has gotten all skill requirements for L8..
Now I always want the best for my DD but I feel like she may be progressing to fast, like just a few months ago she got all skills for L7 and lets not forget that the kid hasnt even done gym itself for 2 years.
I did ask the HC about...
DD Has about 1 more meet until state, so far she has done great!
She has gotten 1st AA On 2/5 meets so far. I'm very proud of how far she has gotten!
How have your DD's done so far this meet season?
We watched it today, We both liked the Gabby Douglas movie much more-- By far. In this movie she was "The worst one on the team" then "The best gymnast in the world" quite literally about 2 minutes later. The acting was rubbish and I just didn't enjoy it, neither did my DD.
This is a bit off topic but, here are a few questions that I would like some peoples imput on!
As a gym parent- Do you prefer watching practice in the summer (upgrading time) or the winter/spring (meet season) ?
Do you prefer watching meets or practices?
Whats your favorite event to watch...
Although this is true, I believe the rush is that its so close to meet season and he needs the skills? I'm not sure if im correct so don't quote me on it!
And i cant get something shipped intime for her meet on friday, besides tea bags what are the best at home remedies that will work to heal them fast? Thanks! (couldn't edit)
If your wanting to get her somewhere with her gymnastics career (although it is a bit young to tell) as in, competitive in optionals or anything of the sorts I'd say move gyms. Kinda seems like that gym will just sandbag your daughter.
She tested out for L4 and L5 in the same day. (It was the same meet just different times) She scored out of it and she did her first L7 meet was the next day (also at the same meet) At her L7 meet she was, 4th AA 2nd on beam 1st on floor, 3rd on bars and 4th on vault :)
DD Was a dancer for most of her life, (age 3 - 10 ) And although the gym we're at doesnt do any ballet training (atleast the level she's in) but when she did ballet in dance she absolutely HATED it, I personally think her dance career is part of the reason she progressed so fast in gym so I have...
Late reply)) But our gym (for team girls) does a fun-sock exchange and the girls find out there gym-sisters :) (You fill out a form then get a "gym sister" to whoever isnt in the same level as you who matched the most of your answers) DD didn't participate because she couldn't go on the day but...
