I'm xcel platinum going diamond and I train 16 hours a week (M-Th) during the school year. During summer, nothing changes (same practice time and hours). Personally, I am wanting to come more but am already coming the max amount of days with my coach offered at this level. My coach has been...
I do half on half off (platinum gong diamond) and start at 65ft. In gold, I also did a half on and I started at 60 ft. I was only 4' 8" at the time. We measure our steps at our gym by having our coach watch us run from our hurdle point to the end of the runway and she counts out 10-12 steps and...
I was wondering what company yall think is best (or worst) for stock gymnastics leotards. Like based on how comfortable they are, price, customer service, etc. We used to use Slyvia P because we loved how you could take a design and just take the sleeves off and they had great customer service...
Before OU competed on beam, KJ had to get the beam fixed before they competed because it was moving. I can’t help but wonder if that’s why Alabama had so many falls on beam but SURELY someone would’ve said something… Right?!!
I totally agree! Mental blocks are so hard but it’s important to get back up at at least try it again. Freak accident happen, when I was learning flyaways, I did it by myself on the pit bar and broke 4/5 toes which took me out for half the season. I wasn’t asked to try it again until the summer...
If you do have grips, I’d recommend Vaseline (I prefer Vaseline to Aquaphor for this use). I have problems with burning and my teammate had a problem with rips so what we do is put a little bit of Vaseline over our calluses and then put the grip on top of it. It doesn’t harm the bar when it’s...
I think that you can do one on the low bar and one on the high bar, you just can't do the same thing on the low and high bar. (i.e. you couldn't do kip-cast-backhipcircle-squat on-kip-cast-backhipcircle-underswing- Flyaway)
This is what my coach told one of our golds because that was the...
Confident by Demi Lovato is THE MOST overused floor music in my opinion. I've heard it at least once at every competition I've ever been too. (My coach has banned us from using it lol)
I know alot of gyms require silvers to have a RO BHS but you can do RO backwards rolls to fulfill the macro flight requirement or do a front handspring with a handstand forward roll+cartwheel or some other acro series.
If you were to start competing right now, you would be a bronze at our gym but, it looks like you very close to silver level. You have silver vault, you need a pullover on bars, you have all of the beam requirements, and you would need to work on leaps and connected acro on floor (such a RO-BHS...
Has anyone else had issues washing their Quatro Competition leotard?! My daughter had a green mystique leotard and when we went to (hand) wash it, all of the green part came out just leaving us with the actual navy fabric. We've already purchased another one, but are wondering what to do for...
That's what I thought... Do you think she would go back to Buckeye?! I know she has ranch down in Texas and I don't think she'd want to leave that and she was already at one of the few elite gyms around that area... There are smaller gyms that focus more on producing collegiate gymnasts and...
Something that I do is put Vaseline over the calluses that are about to rip (like a nice sized glob) and them wrap Prewrap and tape around it. This hack has literally been a lifesaver because not only does it help you not rip, but it removes the friction making it not hurt!
Whenever I dislocated my elbow, I got into swimming (After I was out of the cast ofc!). My doctor actually recommended it and it was really good for helping me regain mobility. I know it's winter but you might try and find a gym with an indoor pool or like a city rec center like mine!
Ooo! I struggled with this alot a couple years ago. My number one tip is to keep your focus on the end of the beam. It can help to put a little dot of chalk on each end so you can keep your balance and it helps you spot in turns. Next, forget about warm ups. You could have the best warm up of...
This weekend we had a gymnast go to compete vault and somehow his steps got messed up going for his front tuck. Is level 4 men's like women's where they can run off to the side as a "bock" and still get another attempt? You could tell his steps were messed up and luckily he was still able to...
