It' was totally hypothetical, and I was just throwing it out there. I really just wanted to make sure that this is really the way it is.
Why aren't the usag mobility requirements set to a little bit higher a standard? Does anyone know why they don't have to achieve a certain score per event?
 $500 an hour?! Wouldn't that be amazing? I wouldn't even know what to do with 500 an hour. I would probably be standing out on the streets handing out money to random people if I were making 500 an hour! :p
Honestly, though.
What would a coach with more than 25 years experience in the gymnastics field be worth salary-wise?
Let's say that 11 of those years were spent training as a gymnast, and the other 14+ years are actual coaching experience. (has experience ranging from "mommy and me" to optional level coaching)...
I have two gymnasts who consistently "fall" on the shoot-through. One is a competing level 4 (first year, no meets yet), the other is Level 3 working on 4...
On their shoot-through, they don't keep their shoulders over the bar long enough to finish the skill in a split. They both end up...
Wondering if anyone knows of any really good youtube videos showing a technically correct roundoff-backhandspring-layout. Or, perhaps a layout on the trampoline? I'm looking for a really, really good example - near perfection.
I'm wondering about the correct angle of the body at the finish of...
that's my question...exactly.
Would that make the bars unsafe for the gymnasts? And wouldn't "washing" the bars damage them in some way?
I have never (in my years as an athlete and now as a coach) ever heard of "cleaning" the bars. I find it almost appalling. Actually, our gymnasts use lots...
Just wondering about cleaning bars?
Do the bars in your gym get cleaned?
How are the bars cleaned?
I've never really ever seen bars free of chalk before. I was visiting a gym last week, and the bars were totally free and clear of all chalk - they were also wet....when i asked a parent...
these are all great! thank you to everyone!
Sometimes I find that when we keep doing the same games over and over, they tend to get boring, or the athletes "expect" what game comes when...It's great to switch it up once in a while - I've found that the kids get a little more excited when they...
looking for something really fun to do in the gym...
could be anything related to:
relay races
some kind of game to play during flexibility work (or during splits)
contest for skills
team building exercises for gym
Really, I'm just wanting to mix it up a little. I have some trivia...
Thanks to all of you. I'm hoping to continue to get to know more of you. I'd like to be able to be more active on the CB, but sometimes, time doesn't allow...I apologize in advance if I post something and then don't reply for a while...;)
I definitely appreciate that! I really love being able...
This might help...
Carbs Are a Source of Easily Obtained Energy
The principal benefit of carbs is easily-obtained energy in the form of glucose. When we eat foods containing carbohydrate, digestive enzymes in the mouth (saliva), stomach and intestine...
Oh my goodness! Poor little thing! I'm really glad that she's okay. I'm sure that was VERY scary for such a little gymmie. I assume she's 5? I think it's wonderful (and quite mature) that she wanted to get back on the beam. Also glad that the coach let her do it. A scary fall like that can...
thanks! And yes, my work is definitely quite challenging, but I do really love what i do. I have to admit, though: coaching gymnastics is a really awesome way for me to break up my week! I have a really great group of kids to work with and I really enjoy being able to be in their lives and being...
for the prance steps...the text in the compulsory manual says something like "quickly drag along the floor." Does this mean that the toes should be pointed and touching the floor? Instead of coupe with toes to the ankle?
There has been some controversy among the regular coaching staff regarding...

I just found this site - i think it's great! lot's of info!
I'm Dr.Coach, Psy.D
I coach gymnastics on a very limited basis (2 or 3 hours a week). Though i have all of the certifications, I volunteer my time in the gym. I love spending time with the kids and...
