DD went to her first state meet tonight. We weed prepared by the coaches not to expect much, they said the judges tend to be harder and we knew the competition would be stiff. I think DD did a great job!
She was at vault first and scored an 8.55. Reasonable start.
Next was bars, which is her weakest event. She didn't pull her mill circle off and scored an 8.25. Not a bad score for her, she had a 6.8 once when she missed both that and the dismount!
Then beam, bam! 9.3!
And a nice looking floor routine earned her a 9.15. : )
We went in expecting no medals and came home with an 8th place in beam and 3rd in floor! I put the camera away and was daydreaming about the long drive home when they called her name for 7th AA in the child division! So exciting!
And in 9 hours we'll be back at the gym for the first level 4 practice!
